Mynydd Clogau 2

Infinis (through its subsidiary Novera Energy Limited) submitted a planning application in March 2008 for a proposed wind farm, Mynydd Clogau 2 wind farm, adjacent to our existing Mynydd Clogau wind farm approximately 10km north-west of Newtown in Powys.

The proposal for an additional 19 turbines is expected to have a generation capacity of 16MW and has been under development since early 2007. It is estimated that the wind farm would generate the equivalent of the average annual electricity use of around 8,500 households, based on an average capacity factor of 26.9%*.

The layout proposed is the result of the environmental studies undertaken during the 12 months to March 2008 and consultations with a wide range of people and organisations including the local planning department and residents in the area.

If you have any questions or would like to register your support for the proposal, please email us at: MC2@infinis.com. Alternatively our general contact details can be found above.

* This calculation is based on the UK average capacity factor of 26.9% (taken from Table 7.4 in the Digest of UK Energy Statistics 2010, DUKES, 2010, for data in 2009) and an average UK household electricity consumption in 2009 of 4,423kWh (Digest of UK Energy Statistics 2010) which leads to a calculation of the equivalent electricity consumption of 8,500 households (rounded down to the nearest 500 households). It should be noted that the equivalent household electricity consumption calculated will vary depending on site wind speeds and actual household electricity consumption. Download the Digest of UK Energy Statistics 2010 - PDF 6.8MB.
